Lynda S., Hillman Cancer Center, Pittsburgh, PA - Wed, May 30th, 2007 8:45 AM PDT
I have to share with you a little story about a patient that was listening to your CD. This was an elderly patient, that had expressed she could not relax and was feeling very anxious (about getting chemotherapy). I offered her the opportunity to listen to your CD; I believe it was her first time listening to music, via CD player w/ headphones >I assisted, placing the headphones securely on her head, set up the CD, and adjusted the volume for her. I gave her a smile and nod, and motioned that I would be back to check on her in a bit.

Approximately 5 minutes later I would return to find her sleeping soundly, headphones still in place. She continued to sleep for another 25 minutes or so. I had gathered some staff to look in on her and together we stood and gazed in amazement at her apparent tranquility.

Moments later the patient opened her eyes, and I said you were sleeping so soundly, I hope I haven't awakened you and she looked at me with the smile of an angel, and replied "I was not sleeping, I was enjoying peace!"

I was so touched by her comment and thought you might be as well. I'm sure there will be many more Peter Murray fans to come.

Have a beautiful day!

Lynda S., Pittsburgh, PA - Mon, May 14th, 2007 8:28 AM PDT
In December you were kind enough to share one of your piano CD's with me. I absolutely fell in love with your music, and can totally appreciate your passion and talent. Growing up with a father who played sax and clarinet, and had a 21 piece orchestra, I grew to appreciate music at a very young age. I still moonlight at WPIC but my hours have changed, as I also work as a patient liaison at The Cancer Center. I truly wanted to thank you for the CD, and was wondering if I could purchase a few additional CD's to share with my patients here.

When the patients come for their chemo treatments, I have offered them the opportunity to listen to your CD. They really love your music! Additionally it tends to calm them and helps to relieve their anxiety. Again thank you so much for sharing your beautiful music with me, and please know that someone is listening at this very moment

Genevieve Crutchfield, London, Hampshire, Kent, United Kingdom - Sat, May 5th, 2007 6:43 AM PDT
I am unsure if it is the standards, the arrangements, the playing, the improvisation or just the beautiful recordings, but the music on here is like the sound equivelent to choclate melting in your mouth, and the sun on your back, and a duvet in the winter... actually better.

I listened to your CD from beginning to end tonight... what a journey this music takes you on! Truly some of the most stunningly emotive playing I have ever heard!!

Hey P!

How are you? Hope you're enjoying the weekend. Been listening since your CD since it arrived day before yesterday. My friend, and co-founder of the foundation, was in the hospital again, so she was listening while she was in the hospital (she came home last night!) and absolutely loves your music too. The nuclear medicine tech at the hospital plays music for her patients during their scans so I played some for her. She loves the CD as well and is going to order a copy this week. What can I say P? FABULOUS!

Hello Peter,

Your words are very encouraging. Thank you so much. It feels like a warm hug. I think I can't describe my experience/ situation in a better way then you do. Fighting for health the piano is a beloved friend ! And it is strange: this makes music also beautiful.

But it is not 'me' on this page, so here we go. Your site is a work of Art. And your a bit jazzy playing takes me to a lounge. Thoughts fade away. A really wonderful atmosphere ! Spain and Footprints are my favourites. And yes we have similarity: follow the heart, that is what I feel so strong. (I have invited you for my top-friends)

Ciao Johan

Well... Peter!!! Let me just catch my breath after listening to Spain! I did not expect that it was going to be a rendition of one of my absolute favorite pieces of all time... of course the Concierto de Aranjuez. Your ability to capture the idiomatic longing of the Spanish guitar has completely astounded me!!! You are truly gifted Peter.... standing ovation... am I overdoing it... good... because I am so impressed!

Hey Peter :-)!

'Easy to Love' is the essence
of it's title -easy to love-
though, I bet it demands your
soul as I hear the note gaps
and chord runs; this familiarity
doesn't happen overnight; you
phrased it like a satin glove; Notes
linger because they must; chords
must anchor because they're strong.
You've spoken eloquently through this
heartfelt piece.

Dear Peter, a friend and I sat down to relax and stitch together one Saturday afternoon in my living room. We listened to several new CD's; yours was our favorite. We were both so impressed with your work. I have listened to your CD so many times I am afraid I will wear it out in the next 6 months! It is so wonderful to listen to and must be so comforting to you when you are playing.

-M.M., Minnesota - Sat, Feb 10th, 2007 8:00 AM PST
What a wonderful gift...enjoyed several evenings of listening pleasure before the holidays and since, your music has been a mainstay in my life. I don't have quite the words to describe its effect on me--perhaps a combination of relaxing, calming, enriching, and uplifting. To say it with one word--priceless! Thank you so much for sharing your music with me.

Hubert SteelerFan, Pittsburgh, PA (Amazon reviewer) - Fri, Feb 2nd, 2007 8:11 AM PST
This is what has to be the perfect company for a glass of good red wine or bourbon rocks, after a long and successful day at work. Just enjoy, you will feel the vibe, you are there in this small cozy bar, intimately chatting, animated yet collected, cool, extberand and subtle, time flies by.

Like smoking a good real cuban cigar; compare it to a Montecristo No 5. Take it slow, it will happen.

We received this from a family member in the states for Christmas and have practically worn it out! Haunting, lyrical, compelling, soothing, mesmerizing, and energizing at the same time. This man has a love affair with the piano and it shows. One feels Peter Murray must be so completely in his 'zone' that he's confident enough, capable and willing to share it with you. "Spain" and "Fly Me To The Moon" make me melt and I find myself wishing I could have him play his renditions of my other favorites. Wonderful CD!

Treasure, Fox Chapel, PA (Amazon reviewer) - Fri, Jan 12th, 2007 10:36 AM PST
Peter's music is magic. I don't know why, but "Spain" keeps bringing me to tears. It's as though he's able to have his heart speak to my heart. This isn't "just" piano, it really is magic.
I agree with the other reviews and can only add that I can't stop listening to his CD. One friend who recieved his CD as a gift said it would make a great hostess gift. I've decided that from now on that is what I'll do too! Thank you Peter Murray!

Dan Santilli, Pittsburgh (Amazon reviewer) - Fri, Jan 12th, 2007 10:35 AM PST
Great work! Peter Murray's rendition of Fly Me to the Moon (In other words..) is spectacular. This is a must listen to CD

alwaysmore "J", Minnesota (Amazon reviewer) - Fri, Jan 12th, 2007 10:34 AM PST
Totally compelling piano music! Melting his way across the piano, from an expansively imagined treatment of a standard like 'Body and Soul' to an unexpectedly tender take on 'Fly Me to the Moon,' Peter Murray has created an intriguing debut recording. 'Late Night Songs' is the kind of music that can take the listener out of the here and now and just wash over you in a warm wave of gorgeous sound.

Murray's music is full of shimmers and caresses, showcasing the softest side of jazz coupled with accomplished technique clearly honed on classical training. He coaxes an enormous amount of sound and color from the piano, at times making it sound like a full orchestra. He turns 'Besame Mucho' into the slowest kiss farewell, aching with loss but still sweet. 'Spain' paints a symphonic and mystical trip through a starry Andalusian night, while the languid rhythm of 'Easy to Love' could surely lull the most tautly wired brain into alpha waves.

Throughout the disk there is a sensuous mix of shifting tonalities and melodic discovery that is mesmerizing and draws me in again and again. While the ballads seem straightforward enough at first listening, they remain fresh after (many!) repeated spins. The more up-tempo tunes, like 'Footprints,' simply amaze.

These are passionate, intimate renderings that breathe new life into old standards . . . the more you listen, the more you hear. Murray definitely has a pianistic language of his own, one that any lover of jazz or classical piano will take great pleasure in. This is a disk you'll want to keep handy for whenever you need to ´get away´
